Music Rights (Singapore) Public Limited (MRSS) is a Singapore-recognised Collective Management Organisation (CMO) representing record labels and music producers.
MRSS licenses the public and commercial use of sound recordings, music videos, and karaoke content on behalf of its members. It collects royalties arising from the use of these works across a wide range of commercial and public platforms.
MRSS was incorporated on 18 July 2018 following the merger of:
- Recording Industry Music Services (RIMS)
- Recording Industry Performance Singapore Pte Ltd (RIPS)
The Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS), under the Ministry of Law, recognises MRSS as a Collective Management Organisation representing the interests of record labels and music producers in Singapore.
Royalties collected through licensing activities are distributed to members after the deduction of operational costs. Distributions are made on a quarterly advance basis during the financial year, with a final reconciliation and distribution conducted at the end of each financial year.
MRSS uses the SoundSys royalty management system to calculate, process, and administer royalty distributions, ensuring accurate and transparent allocation of royalties to its members.
